This is the ideal way for hens to cool off during a stay in Madrid in the sweltering summer temperatures. The Aquopolis Water Park is a mountain paradise only 25KM from the centre of Madrid. The secret of this place is that the air from the north cools over the tall Sierra mountain range (you may even glimpse patches of snow in summer) and makes it less sweltering than the plateau below.
If it's 35 degrees in the shade on Gran Via, you'll want to get here! Aquopolis is one of the biggest water parks in Europe. An adventure lake, wave machines, enormous water slides and some exhilarating downhill courses are some of the enticements to the park. |
Savvy Madrilenos hang out here during the day, and if people-watching is your bag, just disembark from your rubber dingy and watch the world go by with an ice-cold beer in one of the shaded bars. For fun and frolics in the water the Aquopolis is second to none, with one of the most extensive ranges of water slides around.
Try the Kamikaze water slide if you've got a head for heights, or maybe hurtle down the Black Hole, a rather fearsome toboggan that'll have you sliding and gyrating through it's slippy bends. Then there's the adventure pool, or the wave machine.
You may decide you want a relaxing massage in the cool shady bamboo hut, followed by a gin and tonic; or try a temporary henna tattoo from the expert tattoo artists. |
